Deven’s Story

I realized at an early age that living in this world will never be easy and simple. I have known far too well the pain of loss from death and abandonment. At times, this loss has been weakening and has threatened to derail me from my dreams. Despite the hopelessness I have sometimes felt, I have also had many blessings. The support and motivation I have gained from my family, especially my mother, keeps me motivated toward my goals in these dark times. Regardless of the pain I have endured, I am still able to dream and to believe that I am going to have an amazing future.

Although I went through a lot of pain and suffering, I am still eager to continue my education and work towards a degree in a STEM field. I’ve become curious about the world around me, and plan to gain more knowledge in college. I want to explore even more opportunities and meet others who would help lead me down a path where I can leave my mark on the world. I am ready and excited for the academic challenges that college will bring to me.
