The Bateman Scholars Program is a FREE immersive college prep program for high-school juniors and seniors who attend a Birmingham City (A. H. Parker, George W. Carver, Huffman, P. D. Jackson-Olin, Ramsay, Wenonah, Woodlawn, Virtual Academy of Learning) or Homewood High School which includes counseling for college selection, 45+ hours of ACT test prep, one-on-one mentoring, college visits, interview prep, and financial-aid application assistance, among other supports. We invest over 300 hours as well as significant financial resources to help students successfully navigate the challenging, ever-changing college selection process. Scholars who remain in the program during college for up to six years continue to receive support from College Choice Foundation. Check out our informational flyer, click here. NOTE: we do not provide scholarships. We help students find their best and most affordable options in higher education.
For further details and the qualifications for the program (note subject to change upon review for Class of 2026): Click here. Note, while other qualifications apply, pay attention to GPA & family income: You must have a 3.7 GPA and a combined family income (both parents/stepparents) of $80,000 or less. If you think your GPA will be a 3.7 after this semester, and you meet the other requirements, you should apply.
